my experience in the new media class

 Question 1 

in the new media class this semester felt like stepping into a world I that I already understood. I use social media every day, create content, follow trends, and interact with digital platforms so how different could new media really be?

surprisingly, the past weeks in class with our lecturer have opened my eyes to how deep, complex, and powerful this digital space truly is. the class has reshaped the way I think and participate online.

below are three things I have learnt in class that had an impact on me 

1. characteristics of new media; one new thing I learnt is that new media is very different from the traditional media because of the features such as interactivity, multimedia, hypertext, asynchronization and immediacy. This helped me to understand that modern communication is no longer one-way. people can now give feedback instantly, engage with content anytime and access information globally.

2. the steps involved in running a social media campaign; another impactful lesson was learning the steps for running a successful social media campaign and this include, consulting experts, talking to customers, crating hashtags, posting consistently learning from innovators and competitors and experimenting with platforms. I used to thing campaigns were just about posting but now i understand the strategy behind it.

3. the advantages and disadvantages of new media; I also learned about some benefit and dangers using new media. some advantages include to a large audience, research opportunities, real-time feedback, interactions, sharing and relaxation. And some disadvantages to are, addiction, over exposure, bullying, stalking and the need for technological skills. this helped me see the two sides of digital life clearly.


Question2.

The difference the above have made to my perception and use of new media

 1. knowing that new media allows instant feedback, global research, multimedia storytelling, and quick access has changed my perception. I now see new media as a powerful, interactive space. not just entertainment but also for education, business and networking. And because of this, I now pay more attention to how I engage online and use features like hyperlinks, multimedia and feedback more intentionally.

 2. before, I thought social media campaigns were just about posting regularly but now after leaning some steps in class, I understand the importance of researching, audience, engaging customers and creating unique hashtags. I now post more creatively on my page on Facebook and Instagram. I engage with my audience by understanding their needs and way to resolve them.

3. knowing the advantages and disadvantages of new media in class, I now protect my privacy better, i now avoid oversharing, I now take breaks to avoid addiction, I now stay mindful of cyberbullying and inappropriate content, I also use new media wisely for learning and productivity.
